Cindy Crawford

Born in 1966 in DeKalb, Illinois, Cindy Crawford is most knowen for her trademark mole above her lip (although most people refer to it as a "beauty mark"). She is so closely associated with this physical feature that she appeared in an advertising campaign for chocolates featuring commercials wherein she "licked off" her own mole. During the beginning of her career, the mole was removed from many of her earlier modeling pictures, including her first Vogue cover.

Before becoming a megamodel, Cindy detasselled corn, won a chemical engineering scholarship, and scored perfectly on her college calculus exams. She graduated Valedictorian of DeKalb High with a 4.0 average, then went on to attend Northwestern University for only one quarter. She dropped out in order to pursue a full-time modeling career. After working for photographer Victor Skrebneski in Chicago, Cindy moved to Manhattan in 1986.

Crawford is just over 5 feet 9 inches (177 cm) tall, with brown hair and eyes. Her measurements are 34"-26"-35".[1] During the 1980s and 1990s, Cindy was among the most popular supermodels, posing in over 500 magazines worldwide, taking over runways, and participating in numerous fashion campaigns.

In July, 1988, she became the first modern supermodel to pose nude for Playboy magazine, in a shoot by photographer Herb Ritts. In October, 1998 Crawford returned to the pages of Playboy for a second, more revealing nude pictorial. That issue was one of the magazine's all-time biggest sellers.

Although she is one of history's top models, not all models can be actresses. Craford Was nominated Worst Actress and Worst New Star at Razzie Award in 1996.

Crawford has also had her fair share of supermodel dramas. Shw managed to boil the water of the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) movement by becoming spokeswoman for fur giant Blackglama after posing with fellow models Claudia Schiffer, Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss, Elle Macpherson and Christy Turlington in the famous 1994 I'd rather go naked than wear fur campaign.

She caused controversy by allowing her five-year-old daughter Kaya to model a new swimwear range but her rep insists the photo shoot was meant for fun.

Today Crawford Crawford owns her own production company, Crawdaddy Inc. and is married to Rande Gerber. They have two children, Presley, born July 2, 1999, and Kaya, born September 3, 2001. Crawford gave birth to both her children through natural home birth. The family resides in Los Angeles, California
